Work Noise Control Studies

Work noise control studies aim to calculate optimum solutions so that the sound exposure of workers is reduced. Acoustic Science is able to study workplaces and propose the required treatment so that national and European legislation about work noise is fulfilled.

The first and crucial part of conducting a complete work noise control study is to create the noise map of the examined area. In this way the noise distribution and significant noise sources in the area can be visualized.

In new spaces, under planning or during construction, our studies are conducted using certified simulation software; in existing areas the studies utilize measurements and analysis of the appropriate acoustical quantities.

After conducting a study our company is able to treat any problematic situation with optimum technical and economical means.

Environmental Noise Control Studies

Environmental noise control studies aim to calculate optimum technical and economical solutions in order to reduce plant noise emissions to the environment and nearby residences. The main scope is the compliance with local legislation or other specifications depending on each project requirements.

Acoustic Science has the capability to conduct studies according to ISO 9616 and VDI 2714/VDI2720 in order to calculate environmental plant noise transmission.

Studies of road networks under construction are conducted using certified simulation software; existing road network studies utilize measurements and analysis of the appropriate recorded noise indices. Acoustic Science is able to conduct studies according to NMPD-routes-96/XPS 31-133, CRTN and other standards for calculation of road traffic noise emissions.

Railway Noise Studies

Railway noise studies aim to calculate technical or transportation solutions in order to reduce railway traffic noise according to local legislation.

Studies of railway networks under construction are conducted using certified simulation software; existing railway network studies utilize measurements and analysis of the appropriate recorded noise indices. Acoustic Science has the capability to conduct railway noise studies according to RMR,SMRII and other similar standards.

Airport noise studies

Airport noise studies aim to create noise maps in order to investigate the relation between the airport operation and the noise annoyance of the population around the examined airport.

Each study is conducted using appropriate simulation software, while there is always the capability to use measurement data in order to verify the computational models. Acoustic Science has the ability to conduct airport noise studies and create noise maps according to widely used standards such as ECAC.CEAC Doc.29 and others.

Strategic Noise Mapping

Strategic noise mapping is performed in agglomerations according to directive 2002/49/EC so that the sound exposure of the population due to is assessed. In such studies the noise exposure caused by different noise sources can be calculated, predictions for the future conditions can be made, short or long-term measures are planned and “quiet zones” are defined.

Strategic noise mapping is based on urban, demographic data and the technical characteristics of transportation infrastructure of the examined area. Acoustic Science is able to conduct strategic noise mapping studies according to directive 2002/49/EC using appropriate certified software and to perform measurements of noise using certified and calibrated high-precision equipment

Building Noise Insulation Studies

Building noise insulation studies aim to define the appropriate structural elements which are required to separate acoustically two enclosures (rooms, residences, studios, large halls etc) or an enclosure from outdoor noise.

In Greece, sound insulation requirements are defined by the Greek Building Regulation while some applications are guided by specific standards.

Studies of buildings under construction or under planning are conducted using certified simulation software; studies in existing buildings are usually performing using measurements and analysis of the recorded acoustic indices. Acoustic Science has the ability to conduct building noise insulation studies using certified software according to EN 12354 so that appropriate building materials and linings are defined for each specific case.

Room Acoustics Studies

Room acoustics studies aim to improve the acoustic conditions of enclosures as far as their geometry, their sound sources, their materials and their audiences are concerned. The main scope is not only the reduction of noise but also the improvement of acoustic conditions (quality of sound) depending on the enclosure use.

Acoustic Science has the capability to conduct room acoustics studies using simplified statistical methods or three dimensional simulation software (ray tracing).
